There are two kinds of people in the world → cdixon.org

You’ve either started a company or you haven’t. “Started” doesn’t mean joining as an early employee, or investing or advising or helping out. It means starting with no money, no help, no one who believes in you (except perhaps your closest friend

Indoor cultivation of Marijuana and AGW

another reason to legalize, no doubt. Sent to you by Jrome via Google Reader: Indoor cultivation of Marijuana and AGW via MetaFilter by Chocolate Pickle on 4/13/11 PDF: Indoor cultivation of Cannabis is estimated to consume 20 TWh/year, equivalent to that of 2 million average US homes. This is about 1% of national electricity consumption, and results in emission of 17 million metric tons of CO2 to contribute to global warming. So knock it off, you stoners! You’re destroying the planet! Things you can do from here: - Subscribe to MetaFilter using Google Reader - Get started using Google Reader to easily keep up with all your favorite sites

Black Math opening set Boston MA 2003 The White Stripes

The riff at 2:50 (after the last chorus of “writing down things that I don’t understand”) is worth the whole price of admission right there. Simple, elegant, quick.

shakespeare

are we to believe that shakespeare got all he wrote about from first hand knowledge or from investigative learning? how about any ancient author?

centers of learning have existed for ages, and certainly even the ancients knew how to do it. Pool the family unit. Grandpa probably saw this kind of moose in his day, probably knows how we could catch more. Grandma had given birth to twins. Let’s ask her. Later, it became, let’s ask Electrician Mike down the street, he’ll know how we can wire it! That could be now as easily as it was fifty years ago.

So where the hell is the revolution? Now we can access those people wherever they may be in the world, but is their advice any better? If it did, perhaps it wasn’t widely dispersed, it was kept under wraps, edited for a book or a blog post about half the full topic.
